Today’s NZPGA Championship Pro Am created the perfect setting to open proceedings for the 2021 edition of the event at the Te Puke Golf Club. On an immaculately manicured course, sports stars, PGA Professionals and local amatuers enjoyed playing on a classic sunny day in the Bay of Plenty.

Some of the day’s dream match ups included the likes of Ryan Fox and All Black Damien Mackenzie, Luke Brown and Black Cap Neil Wagner and Josh Geary with Ben Matalino, who took out 1st Prize, setting the scene for the innovative championship for the rest of the week.

Pieter Zwart and Harry Bateman also used the day to as a good warm up with their respective teams finishing 2nd and 3rd in today’s Pro-Am.

The NZPGA Championship tees off at 930am Thursday and todays Pro Am rounds only reinforces what an occasion this week is going to be and how hotly contested the Championship will be this year. With the form that the players have shown coming into the tournament all eyes will be on the live leader board at the Te Puke club or on the PGA NZ website home page over the next four days.

Beginning on Thursday will also be the inaugural NZPGA Regional Teams event with players in teams of four representing the province where they started golf. They will all be vying for the Rohe Trophy as the first to claim the NZPGA Championship Teams Title.

Bringing Golf communities together the PGA NZ has endeavoured to stage a championship for all and with Men and Women all competing together in the Championship excitement is ringing around the golfing communities of New Zealand with pride being the forefront to the 2021 tournament and the celebration of golf and where it all began for PGA players long continue after Sunday’s final round.
