Well it was a Ko taking the win this week at the Kooyona Golf Club in Adelaide, but unfortunately for Kiwi fans it wasn’t Lydia. Korea’s Jin Young Ko lead all week after a first round 65, eventually posting 14 under par to win by 3 shots.

Lydia Ko was the best of the Kiwis in a tie for19th at -3.

More hot scoring on the Legends tour during the Garden City Legends Classic at Russley Golf Club. A very bunched leaderboard with a 3 way tie at the top. Peter Fowler, Craig Owen and Robert McConnell sharing the title.

Peter Fowler continued his good form to win the Ramada NZPGA Seniors Championship. A pair of 65’s at Waimari Beach had Fowler 7 shots in front after 2 days play. With the untimely visit from cyclone Gita washing out the final round at Waitikiri , Ken Tarling would have to settle for a distant second, followed by Richard Backwell and Martin Peterson.

Coming Up This Week

Horizon Golf NZPGA Championship

This week’s Australasian Tour event is our very own NZPGA Championship. Held for the second consecutive year at the Manawatu Golf Club in Palmertson North.

A huge Kiwi presence in the field this week including 8 of the top 10 NZers in the Official World Rankings. Headed by Mike Hendry, Ben Campbell and US based Manawatu boy, Tim Wilkinson. With 36 NZ golfers already in the field and a host more attempting to take the final spots through Monday qualifying, there’s a great chance of seeing a lot of local names on the leaderboard come Sunday afternoon.

In saying that, this is arguably the strongest Australian Tour contingent to compete in the NZPGA Championship in recent years, with no less than 29 past winners on tour lining up. Promising signs for the resurgence of the flagship NZPGA event.

Honda Classic PGA National

Danny Lee will be flying the flag for NZ again this week on the PGA Tour, at the always demanding PGA National layout.

European Tour - Comercial Bank Qatar Masters, Doha GC

Josh Geary will again be the lone soldier on the European Tour this week, as Ryan Fox takes a week off.

Honda LPGA Thailand - Siam Country Club, Pattaya Old Course - Chonburi, Thailand

Lydia Ko is back in action in this week’s LPGA event. A new coach and new caddy on the team will hopefully see Lydia working her way back towards world number 1.

The Bonville Golf Resort in Queensland is the venue for the Australian Womens Classic this week. There will be 7 Kiwis teeing it up;

Cathryn Bristow, Hanee Song, Munchin Keh, Liv Cheng, Jenna Hunter, Rookie pro Chantelle Cassidy, and world long drive champ Phillis Meti.
