A fantastic result for Mike Hendry, who for the second year in a row has finished top 4 at the Gateway To the Open, Mizuno Open. While a bogey on the final hole dropped Hendry out of a share of the lead into a 3 way tie for 2nd, he still booked his ticket to the 2018 Open Championship. Though the tournament was played at a different venue this year, this must be becoming one of Hendry’s favourite events of the season! The course was brutally long, 8007 yards. In a third round played in a 2 club wind, only two players managed to shoot better than 73, and only the winner was under par at the end of the week. Surely a great warm up for what will be a tough task at Carnoustie for The Open.

Australasian Pro Am

First year pro James Anstiss has come up just short at the Tahiti Open. Anstiss was around the lead all week and on top with a round to play but was overtaken by a final round 65 from Australian, Tim Stewart. Also a good result for Pieter Zwart, 7th place on +2 for the week, while Josh Munn faded after a solid start to finish T 22nd.

Cut made, but not much more to report for Steven Alker and Tim Wilkinson at the Nashville Golf Open this week. Both finished near the bottom end of the bunch who played all four rounds

A short break seems to have paid off for Danny Lee, who has come home strong for a share of 14th place at the Fort Worth Invitational. A final round 65 saw Lee leap 33 spots up the leaderboard.

Symetra Tour

A solid start of 1 under par 70 had Liv Cheng in good position after the opening round of The Valley Forge Invitational. Too many bogeys in a second round that added up to 75, and another narrowly missed cut, by 2 shots. It’s a fine line out there!

Asia Development Tour

Gareth Paddison has missed the cut at the Betagro Championship, which was dominated by the local Thai players. Rounds of 70 73 had Paddison 2 strokes off the mark, a weekend off and maybe a little time to soak up some local culture.

European Tour

Kiwi number 1 Ryan Fox has posted a solid result at the BMW PGA Championship. In one of the strongest European Tour fields of the year, Fox’s steady rounds of 70 73 71 71 were good enough for a share of 43rd place. Coach Marcus Wheelhouse spent the week with Fox, a recipe for success last season so we’ll keep an eye out for big things in the coming weeks.

Alps Tour

The weeks theme of cuts missed by 2 shots continues, this time for Shaun Jones. His first event back on the Alps Tour didn’t quite go to plan with a rusty 75 to start the week. A gutsy comeback 69 wasn’t quite enough to sneak into the top 40 to play the weekend.

Korean PGA

On the back of a great performance at the NZ Open earlier in the year, rookie pro Nick Voke received an invite to play the Genesis Championship, where he joined tour regulars Tae Koh and Harry Na. After 3 solid rounds on a typically difficult Korean tour layout, Voke limped home with a 4th round 78 to finish tied 39th. Koh finished nicely, posting one of the few sub par rounds on Sunday to grab a share of 23rd. Na didn’t make the weekend.

China LPGA Tour

Munchin Keh has been pipped at the post at the Le Coq Sportif Beijing Classic. Keh fired a stunning final round 65 to get into a playoff for the title. Beaten by a birdie on the second playoff hole, Keh would have to settle for silver, but now sits in 11th place on the China LPGA order of merit.
