Played at the St Andrews Golf Club in Hamilton, the Brian Perry Classic has three paying amateurs playing with a district association leading amateur player and a leading PGA of NZ professional.

This year’s tournament was played in difficult conditions as an impending storm was closing in, the St Andrews Course was in very good condition with the greens living up to their reputation as being some of the best greens in the country. Despite the difficult conditions scoring was hot with over half the field at level par or better, the evergreen Pender showed all his class and experience to shoot a fantastic 5 under par 67 and take this year’s title from four players tied for second, Richard Lee, Grant Moorhead, Oscar Cadenhead and Hayden Beard.
