Jimmy Zheng leads the Barfoot and Thompson Akarana Open

Jimmy Zheng, a 15 year old schoolboy from the Howick Golf club leads a strong field of talented professionals and amateurs by a single stroke at the halfway stage of the Akarana Open.

Zheng followed up a round of 65 yesterday with an eight birdie, two bogey round of 64 to head former winner Gareth Paddison who was six under par after five holes and scored 64 to be at 10 under par. A further stroke behind is Josh Geary and then Mark Brown, Michael Hendry and amateurs Henry Spring and Tom Parker are all on 7 under.
