The PGA of NZ welcomed nine new members at the PGA trainee awards and graduation at Millbrook
resort on Monday the 5th of December.  An absolute stellar of a day at one of New Zealand Premier resorts was the perfect way to celebrate three years of study, work and development, the venue for the 2017 New Zealand Open is easily one the best places in the world to play golf and relax, surrounded by the majestic mountains and rolling hills Millbrook created a graduation experience that is second to none. The Golf industry is in good hands thanks to the hard work of the PGA members that take on a trainee and pass on valuable industry knowledge to the future leaders of our game.  

Outstanding contribution to Golf Award – Jason Mann and Jonathan Ratcliffe, for their promotion of golf and coaching  programmes to the disabled golfer, Jason and Jon introduced golf to deaf and disabled golfers proving that golf is a great sport for all.
Coaching Programmes Award – Glenn Robinson is part of a strong team at the Hastings Golf Club where they are taking a holistic approach to growing and supporting the game of through long term recruitment and retention golf programmes running a junior academy, She Loves Golf and starting new at golf programmes, the club and game is in good health at the Bridge Pa Golf Club.

Hamish Campbell & John Bae, for the first time we have had joint order of merit winners, are twenty tournament rounds both Hamish and Jon were tied on 24 under par.

This award celebrates consistency and success, the trainee of the year is awarded to the trainee who over three years of study and playing has developed and shone above the rest, Hamish is a PGA professional that has achieved academic excellence, maintained an exceptionally high level of playing and developed valuable life skills over the three years of the programme.

Attended by PGA trainees, family, friends, PGA education supporters Acushnet company, Industry Training Organisation Skills Active, New Zealand Golf board and Staff, New Zealand open tournament director, NZ Golf magazine, PGA Full and Life members, and PGA board members the 2016 PGA trainee awards and graduation day was a huge success, we are very proud to welcome our new members. Graduating PGA trainees were presented with their membership and graduating certificates by PGA of NZ president Susan Farron.

PGA trainees graduate through the NZQA New Zealand Apprenticeship scheme and are presented with NZQA qualifications by Skills Active, in Coaching, Retail, Business, Adult learning, Sales and Marketing.
