Heavy and persistent rain forced the cancellation of the second round today. This meant the tournament was reduced to one round.

Nelson based trainee professional Hamish Campbell won the Kaikoura Pro am without playing a shot in the second round. Hamish scored the low round of seven under par 65 but it could have been better if not for a bogey at the par three eighteenth hole.

Campbell won by one stroke from Brad Hayward and Kieran Muir on 66. Hayward was one over par after ten holes and then he ignited his round with seven consecutive birdies and a par at the final hole. Kieran Muir missed the cut in the Fiji International yesterday and made a huge effort to reach Kaikoura in time to play. The travel obviously did not affect his play and the tournament organisers were very appreciative of his efforts.
